Christians in later generations might do that because they are making a decision on the faith of someone else’s testimony. The Christians in the first century would never have done it, however, for they did not have to rest upon somebody else’s testimony. They were there and saw the resurrection of Jesus in person or could check it out with other people who saw it in person. And that is Paul’s point.
